About me

Hi! Glad to see you here!
I am an Instructional Designer and Developer, Assistive Technology Specialist, Modern Greek Instructor, and licensed K-12 Special Education teacher with over twenty years of experience in Higher Education.
I believe that learning can happen anytime, anywhere. The tools, strategies, methodologies, learner motivation, and engagement are some of the factors that can make learning stick. My goal is to create memorable learning experiences that are designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Instructional Philosophy
Advancements in Technology are always fascinating. The educational arena provides the most fertile ground to experiment with technology and explore its benefits and shortfalls. It has become evident during the pandemic that technology kept the world moving. Online learning, eLearning, and remote classes have opened new horizons to populations that wouldn’t otherwise have access to higher education programs. At the same time, it became apparent that there are cracks in the digital environment system that create or widen existing barriers and hinder equal access to learning.
Digital literacy is crucial when it comes to employability and career advancement. Technology is meant to close the gaps. Yet, for those learners who lack basic computer literacy skills, the gap increases.
In 1994, Steve Jobs pointed out in The Rolling Stone Interview that “Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have faith in people…” I couldn’t agree more that technology is only a tool that can bring people together or raise barriers and keep them apart. Empathy plays an important role when trying to foster inclusive digital environments. Diversity is the norm and not the exception! Humanized design has the potential to rebrand education and refocus on the human.
I am a passionate advocate of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and believe that “One size does not fit all.” Multiple means of Representation and Action and Expression can contribute to student Engagement. In an era ruled by high speed and constant change, Education must continue to evolve.
My role as an educator, designer, and developer is to observe, listen and understand the needs of the stakeholders and the learners, create measurable learning objectives and meaningful and accessible learning solutions while implementing active teaching and learning strategies and methodologies. The learners’ Reaction to the learning solution, the degree to which they acquired the desired Knowledge, their Behavior - the degree they are able to apply what they learned in real-life situations - and the Results of the training solution are crucial components to determining the effectiveness of the course and identifying actions I will take to improve processes in the future.
As I lifelong learner, I am committed to exploring trends in education and advancements in learning technologies, discovering best practices and strategies to enhance my work always embracing diversity and accessibility. Last but not least, I let empathy and self-reflection guide, mold, and shape my professional growth.
